Are you an investor? Or a trader?

These two things are not mutually exclusive.

There are valid reasons and circumstances for each approach. You may do both simultaneously. Both require due diligence, skill and knowledge.

Let’s begin by defining each term:

INVESTOR (investing): Long term holding of assets that are expected to increase in value over time, typically years or decades.

TRADER (trading): Short to medium term ‘bets’ or defined risk strategies that are expected to result in a positive return on capital deployed. These tend to have higher leverage, higher risk and much higher return. Active, daily or sometimes intraday activities that provide immediate results.

What’s the Difference?

  • Investing is about owning pieces of businesses or assets for years, letting time and compounding do the heavy lifting.

  • Trading is about buying and selling more frequently, trying to profit from shorter‑term moves in price.

  • Investing focuses on long‑term goals (retirement, major life milestones). Trading requires more time, focus, and emotional discipline in the day‑to‑day.

Why it Matters.

  • If you treat investing like trading, you may jump in and out emotionally and miss the point of long‑term growth.

  • If you treat trading like investing, you might take risks you don’t fully understand or hold positions you should have exited.

  • Knowing the difference helps you choose what actually fits your life, schedule, and stress level.

My Mission

“My mission is to help real people understand the difference between investing and trading so they can build a plan that actually fits their life, not someone else’s idea of “success.” I want you to know what you own, why you own it, and how it’s supposed to help you reach your goals over time.

Inside the 52‑Week Money & Markets Journey, we take these ideas out of theory and into your real numbers, accounts, and schedule. Week by week, we work toward a long‑term investing approach you can live with—and, if it’s right for you, a clear and disciplined way to trade that respects both your risk and your responsibilities.”
